On July 28th the official opening of Littleport Leisure was made by government Health Minister Stephen Barclay MP.
The Minister gave a speech congratulating everyone concerned for their hard work that had brought the amenity to the village of Littleport. Manager Debra Jordan, who is also a parish councillor, did a magnificent job of laying on the morning’s reception and welcoming visitors that included the Mayor of Ely, Michael Rouse, and fellow parish councillors – and Littleport’s Cambridgeshire County Councillor David Ambrose-Smith – to the grand opening.
The entertainment was by local musician SaxyAl playing a grand selection of tunes on his saxophone in the luxurious bar and dining area. Everyone who attended this special occasion for the village said how much they enjoyed the morning and how all the Leisure staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.
This event followed the also newly established and hugely successful Littleport Parkrun which attracted 167 participants on that day and has seen an increase in numbers every week since.
