Lions Commonwealth Celebration
Mayor of Ely Michael Rouse writes: “Thank you to the Lions Club of Littleport and New Century Alpha Leo Club for inviting Cassie and me to their Charter Party celebrating the Commonwealth at Prickwillow Village Hall today in September”.
All the guests were well fed and entertained at a very enjoyable event. The Lions do sterling work within the community for others and they are always looking for new members, as are the Leos who will be the future of the organisation.
We Need Your Help
Over the past two years our club has collected over 8000 pairs of used spectacles to be used, mainly in third world countries. They also go to homeless charities in the UK.
The glasses are sent to our Chichester club for checking and then transported free of charge to Le Havre in France for grading. Every part of the frame and glasses, even broken ones, are used
A 93 year old gentleman in Honduras said “Thank you Lions, I can now read my Bible for the first time in 15 years”
With your help we would like to top the 10000 mark by Christmas
Please take your old spectacles to Wade’s High St Ely, Vision Express in Tesco Angel Drove Ely, Loach & Wade Littleport & Soham or Witchford Post Office.
