There is quite a lot of talk in the media regarding mental health. This affects many people in the world and if we look closer to home, it also affects some of the adults who attend Branching Out. Our work here is to support not only those with mental health issues but also those with many other challenging conditions. Our highly trained proactive support staff encourage and support our adults with learning disabilities to live active and fulfilling lives. We provide work-based experience for 38 people in horticulture, growing their own vegetables which are used in cookery sessions, cooking their own lunches. We also make craft items, cards, key rings, dog biscuits and much more. We also upcycle small items of furniture which have been donated into the shop and they are then sold in the charity shop.
The aim of our charity shop on High Street in Littleport is to raise much needed funds for the charity to carry out this work. Without the huge amount of generous donations received from the general public we would be unable to carry on. Those of you who donate, thank you very much. Those of you who shop, thank you very much.
There are so many bargains to be had. Whether you are looking for a wedding outfit or just something to wear for every day, you will find something. Whatever size you are, there is always a good selection. Almost all of our clothing sell for either £1, £2 or £3. You can’t ask better than that and there are lots more things to buy other than clothing. We are open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sunday. Look out for our flash sales!
Have you heard about our loyalty scheme and gift aid donor programme? If you shop with us regularly you can get a loyalty card which gives you points. When you have collected £1 worth of points, you can use this against your purchases. Also, if you are a tax payer, you can sign up to be a gift aid donor enabling Branching Out to claim 25% on your donations from HMRC. It’s really easy, just ask our staff or volunteers.
Talking of volunteers, do you have a few hours to spend helping out in the shop? We would love to see you. We have a great team helping us out but there is always room for more! Refreshments provided along with having fun and helping others less fortunate. Again, pop into the shop and have a chat. We especially need volunteers on a Saturday and Sunday.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Also, at our Head Office on Grange Lane you will find a wide selection of hand-made items available. Just put your head round the door and see what you can find in our wonderland of gifts.
Thank you Littleport for your support. We really do make a difference.
