In 2014 the well-loved JH Adams Ironmongery shop was transformed into Littleport’s very own Heritage Centre
The Adams Heritage Centre is Littleport’s only dedicated venue for exhibitions and displays highlighting all aspects of our town’s history.
So what can you expect when you come through the door? Adams has hosted an exciting range of special events, exhibitions and displays in the two short years since it opened. The centre also holds a community archive of materials and artefacts donated by residents. Adams is also an information point for local and regional events of interest. We also stock a wide range of local interest books, CDs and DVDs for sale.
The beautiful interior has been used as a location for three films. And the centre is also used as a meeting space for community groups throughout Littleport.
Adams Community Market is held on the first Saturday of every month. As well as bringing much-needed funds into the centre, the market sells prime products from a range of specially sourced local producers.
So it’s a busy little place. But most importantly …. this is your heritage centre.
It belongs to you … the community.
We need volunteers to help Adams fulfil its potential as a vibrant community amenity.
Whether you have a passion for local history and heritage, or you are looking for local interest books, or you just want to browse the stalls in our thriving community market, you will be sure of a warm welcome.
Above all, If you would like to be involved in keeping the Adams Heritage Centre at the heart of our community …. please contact us or leave a note in our post box.
