Nik Marsh is captain of Littleport Cricket Club and is happy to share some information about what it’s like to be a part of this sporting tradition here in Littleport. And he tells us, “After a slow start, losing the first 8 games of last season, Littleport came back to win the last nine on the bounce beating all of the three teams that got promoted from division one!
We are looking to continue this year where we left off from last season. We are due to start the first week in May.
Pre-season nets began in February.
The club is always looking to recruit new players from any age group or ability. Everybody is welcome.
And finally he says, “For any information please contact myself, Nik Marsh, Ish Arora (club secretary) or Chris Darnell (club chair)
We expect to have a good year following on from previous others. In the past five years, we have won two league titles, a cup competition, two cup finals and won promotion three times.” A fine record indeed. We all wish the club good luck for the coming season.
There’s plenty for youngsters to learn, including how to prepare a cricket wicket and outfield, plus plenty of training sessions.
We are more like a family than a team and our ages range from 16 to 60 within the club.”
