Sue Sollinger tells Littleport Life how she became a Yoga teacher

“I decided at the age of 40 to change direction in my working career after being divorced and becoming a single parent to my two boys. I needed something that would fit in with the school time table and also help pay the bills.

I had always enjoyed sport and fitness classes at various health clubs around the country, so I decided to take the RSA Exercise to Music, Step Reebok and Advance Study in Fitness exams, in order to gain my qualifications as an Approved Fitness Instructor. I taught for 10 years, during which I also practiced Yoga for myself.

Finding I needed a deeper understanding of how to balance the mind as well as the body, at the age of 50 when my boys were in their 20’s, I took myself off to India, the birthplace of Yoga.

I attended a Teacher Training Course at an Ashram In Kerala in Southern India for several months returning home as a ‘Yoga Siromana’ – a Teacher of Yoga.

I now have my own Yoga Studio near Littleport, but still love to teach in health and leisure clubs. I feel passionate about sharing my yogic experiences, and how Yoga has helped me through the good times and the bad. Yoga is not just an exercise to help the outer body to look good but a complete way of life, mentally, emotionally and physically. To want to lead the best life you can.

So in my classes I will be taking you through relaxation, meditation and breathing techniques, as well as teaching you to have more flexibility, strength, focus and balance. Not only in your body but in your life as well. Om Shanti.”
