Littleport and District Flower Club

It has been a very positive 2018 for the Club with new members joining and a very good programme of demonstrators new and old entertaining the members at our meetings.

The Club’s AGM was held on the 15th February at Littleport Village Hall when 38 members attended, with apologies from a few members who were not able to attend, and the evening started with a meal provided by Fairways Catering of Littleport which started the evening off well.

The President Louise Richards presided over the AGM and welcomed everyone. Louise thanked all members of the Committee for their continued efforts on behalf of the Club and members for their continued support.

The outgoing Chair Pam Hayes in her report also thanked her Committee for their continued input into helping to keep the Club on a firm footing. Pam said that she felt the time was right for her to step back from the Chair at such a positive time in the Club and hoped that the incoming Chair Carol Weyman and her Committee would continue with all the efforts and good work that had enabled the Club to grow and reach 57 years. Pam also emphasised the importance of people coming forward onto the Committee to make sure that the Club would continue in such a positive way.

In her report to the Club as Programme Secretary, Pam Hayes reported on the good year we had just had and informed the Club of the year ahead when demonstrators old and new would be returning to give us another happy year of continued flower and friendship.

The Treasurer Helen Fordham assured the Club that we were in a reasonably good position, but the membership fees would have to be put up to £33 for the coming year to cover the rise of affiliation fees, demonstrators fees and the cost of Flowers. Visitors fees would stay at the cost of £5.

After the Raffle Carol Weyman was presented with the Chair’s Badge and June Bird wished her a happy first year on behalf of all the members present.

Louise Richards presented the outgoing Chair Pam Hayes, with a beautiful flower arrangement and a garden voucher on behalf of the Committee and Members for all of her efforts over the past 4 years in the position of Chair.

The Club meets on the third Friday in the month at Littleport Village Hall, 7pm for 7.30pm start and welcomes new members and visitors to all our meetings. For more information please contact the Secretary Sue Constable on 01353 861012 or Chair Carol Weyman on 01353 360289.
