Saturday 22nd June saw the return of our annual ‘Fun Day’, which this year was renamed as ‘Open Day’. The event was filled with lots of fun and activities the whole community could come along to enjoy. The smiles and laughter that could be seen and heard were testament to a job well done.
For the youngsters we had an array of Inflatables, Zorbs, Face Painting, Storytelling, Nerf Wars and everybody’s favourite, the Fun Fair. We were also lucky to have ‘The Animal Experience’ from Stretham with us. They attended with snakes, other reptiles for all to see and hold if they dare! There were Meerkats too!
Littleport Rangers Football Club ran their annual tournament inviting more than 20 teams to come along and compete for a winner’s trophy.
The Spiritual Circle of Friendship were with us offering private readings. They also had over 20 stalls offering Reflexology, Palmistry, Angel Cards, Healing Candles and much more.
We had an array of superb food stalls, supplied by Habis, Gilbey’s Fun Fair, Lisa Sharman and everybody’s favourite, Housden’s BBQ. For the first time we had a ‘Gin bar’ provided by The Suffolk Horsebox Bar and a Cider stall. There were also many fundraising and craft stalls from local groups.
We even catered for your favourite pooches, with a sponsored Family Dog Show kindly organised and run by local pet supplies firm Jurassic Bark.
The local MS Group hosted their own Custom Bike show helping them raise funds and awareness for their very worthwhile cause.
There were displays and performances from Stuart Harris and members of his Kickboxing Club who train at the Leisure Centre and 4D Dance. This was followed by a moving performance by the LECA school choir and then we were entertained in song throughout the afternoon by renowned professional singer, Littleport’s Kathryn Buck.
The day finished with live music from ‘The Off Beats’ a local band playing uplifting Ska music.
Plans and discussions have already started for next year’s event which will be called the Littleport Leisure Show Day which will be held on Saturday 20th June 2020. We’d love to see you there.
