The first meeting of the new year for the Club was in March when the new Chair Carol introduced the welcome return of Barbara Collins with her demonstration of ‘Past Present and Future’. This was also Membership Night and the Committee were delighted at the end of the evening when the membership rose to 50 members so all the hard work over the past 3 years to gain new membership and rebuild the Club had proved successful.
Carol has settled in well to the Chair and is working very hard along with the Committee to continue to encourage new membership with her new ideas and enthusiasm.
In May, Jo Poulter returned with her title ‘Best Of’ and again a very good evening of Flowers and Friendship. June saw the return of the ever popular Brenda Tubb with ‘More Blooming Flowers’ filling the Hall with laughter and joy. July’s demonstrator Kath Doggett with her title of ‘Hear and There’ gave good entertainment also.
As the Workshop proved so popular last year with Adele Kent at the helm, the Club is again doing a similar Workshop on Saturday 17th August at the Village Hall start 10am to 3pm. We will again be welcoming Adele back to lead the 28 members taking part through two designs.
On the 20th September the Demonstrator will be Pat Barton with her title of ‘Where in the World’ – Pat is new to the Club so we are all looking forward to seeing her talent with flowers and enjoying another evening of fun and friendship.
On the 18th October Lesley Beeton will make a welcome return to the Club with her title of ‘Halloween’ so we could see some fireworks.
Our Open Evening on the 15th November will be with Gill McGregor doing ‘Festive Fantasy’ another new face for the Club. There will be a buffet at this meeting along with our brilliant Christmas Sales Table run by Pam Sole. The cost of Tickets to this event is £12 visitors and £5 Club Members. This is usually a very good evening, full house, and anyone requiring tickets for this should contact the Treasurer Helen Fordham on 01353 721766. Tickets will also be on sale at our September meeting.
The Chair and Committee welcome anyone along to our meetings at the cost of £5. You do not have to be a member but of course are very welcome to join. We meet at the Village Hall, Littleport and doors open at 7pm. Starting at 7.30pm the Demonstrator does 6 arrangements which are then raffled at the end of the evening, after that we have a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits.
