Indeed we live in strange times in lockdown, but all of the community of Littleport have done a tremendous job of helping each other, well done everyone. Our club, Lions Club of Littleport is still active, but we are for now not having ‘face to face’ meetings. As part of our lock down efforts we have donated two hundred pounds to Littleport Food Bank, who are a vital service for those who cannot afford meals.
Before lockdown we had a lovely meal at The Plough and Harrow pub in Littleport. We would like to thank landlords Patrick and Carol Creek for making our club feel very welcome, providing some very tasty high quality food and making our club charity of the year in their pub. Also we would like to thank the teams at Adams Community Centre, Habis and many local businesses for putting posters of our charity events in their windows.
It is during this time we urge kindness and community spirit to prevail in the face of adversity. Our fundraisers have had to be cancelled this year, but we have still raised over four hundred pounds for our community. Other groups who have benefited from these funds have been our local scouts as well as guides.
At this current time we have been doing all we can to help our local community, and club meetings will start again as soon as government guidelines permit. However if there is any way in which we can help further, please contact: lionscluboflittleport@gmail.com.
