January saw us enjoying our Annual Dinner at the High Flyer in Ely, a most delightful evening with delicious food. Ann White was presented with the Silver Plate for the most points gained during 2016 in our monthly competitions.
So far this year our monthly meetings have seen us entertained with a quiz night conducted by Peter Allen In February.
We enjoyed an interesting talk in March by Jo-Beth Chapman from ‘Positive Ely Treated’ Complementary Therapies.
A brilliant talk in April was given by Tabbi Smith on the History of The National Stud. With Newmarket so close, it was great to hear about this establishment. Her talk was illustrated with delightful pictures – a most enjoyable evening.
The Leisure Centre kindly put on a Quiz Night for our funds in March. This was well attended and we are most grateful to all the staff at the Leisure Centre for this.
At the Village Surgery on March 25, we served tea and coffee to the visitors.
The Fun Day at the Leisure Centre on June 4th will see us with our usual stall, selling teas and delicious homemade cakes.
Some of our members attended the Ely Federation WI at March. After the business was conducted, Nick Hamilton, son of Geoff Hamilton, many will know Geoff from his appearances on television, gave a talk entitled ‘Barnsdale After Geoff’. A most enlightening and amusing talk.
The programme for the coming months looks good with many delights in store.
Ladies, why not come along and see what we have to offer. You would be most welcome. We meet in the Village Hall at 7.15 pm on the second Tuesday of the month, and hold a craft afternoon on the third Tuesday at 2 pm.
