363MCC Active in Lockdown

The activities of Littleport’s bikers are legendary – and for all the right reasons! Although the recent lockdown put a temporary stop to their usual pre-summer meetings 363MCC members were still busy. May Day is always celebrated with the Crowning Around Bike Show that this year had to be cancelled. It seems that there was an inn there as early as the 17th century, and it thrived under a succession of landlords and landladies during the 19th and 20th centuries. Walter Henry (“Jack”) Barrett was born on July 23 1891 and spent his formative years in…

Millfield School

Millfield School

It’s certainly been a challenging time for us all and here at Millfield we have attempted to keep some sense of normality for those children in school and those working at home. When it looked likely that schools would remain open only for our most vulnerable children and those children of key workers, the Elliot Foundation Trust was swift to act and consider the likelihood of many weeks or months of home learning by creating…

Littleport Women’s Institute – Still Going Strong Through the Recent Lockdown

Any group or organisation is as strong as its constituent parts – its individual members. And Littleport WI has demonstrated that in a manner reminiscent of the old World War 2 spirit and its refusal to be down- hearted aftermath! WI Secretary Ms Linda Whytock recounted just some of the huge efforts made by the members during what was for many a truly isolating experience. Not everyone had a significant other with whom they could…

Littleport Lions are Going Strong!

Indeed we live in strange times in lockdown, but all of the community of Littleport have done a tremendous job of helping each other, well done everyone.
