LCPS Singers Perform in London!

On the 29th January, children from year 4 and 5 gave a spectacular performance at the 02 as part of the Young Voices Choir.

It was a truly amazing experience with over 7,000 children singing together and performing. My thanks to all the adults who’ve supported the children since we started rehearsing in September, and to all the children who showed commitment in learning the songs and dance moves.

Young Voices Club will start again next September, with some taster sessions in the second half of the summer term! Mr Clark Well done Swifts! – Our first class assembly of 2018 saw Year 6 children in Swifts class put together a totally ‘heroic’ assembly all about Ancient Greece.

We learnt about the Spartans and the Athenians, saw some amazing Artwork and really enjoyed the songs, poems and performance! Our thanks to Ms Hoal and everyone involved. Folk Singers bring British historical songs and stories – Years 4, 5 and 6 were treated to a visit from folk band The Young ‘Uns on the 2nd February.

Workshops with the 5s and 6s focused on the link between folk song and story – the children especially enjoyed creating their own rap about revolting peasants in the reign of King John! The year 4s enjoyed a special afternoon performance from the band with a sea-based twist! It was fantastic to hear live music from some talented musicians – check them out on YouTube!
